There are often alternatives available to a person in financial difficulty, other than formal insolvency appointments.  These alternatives may include informal negotiations with trade creditors or banks, or the restructuring of a person’s affairs.

In addition, it is often beneficial for a person or company being pursued by creditors, or who is insolvent to obtain general advice and assistance from an insolvency practitioner, prior to entering into a formal insolvency appointment.
